Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 2 years experience in a complex computing environment, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of all server types (database, web, application and print) and multiple operating systems including Windows and Linux. VmWare experience and knowledge a plus. Must possess excellent communication and project management skills.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

Must be able to lift computer and related equipment. Must be willing to work flexible hours including occasional nights, weekend and holidays and be on-call 24/7. Periodic travel for professional development.

1. The Senior Server Administrator will install, configure, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain systems in AWS and on premise. Other responsibilities include administration and support of VMware ESX and VPC. Participate in a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering Cloud services to the enterprise. Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

2. Serve as AWS architect and collaborate with a team responsible for designing, implementing and delivering Cloud services to the enterprise. Perform data back-ups and recoveries. Administer and maintain security of operating systems. Monitor and maintain continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements.

3. Perform capacity planning, monitoring and performance tuning of server and storage environments on an ongoing basis. Use tools like Chef and Puppet to automate tasks and utilize Infrastructure as Code to further Dev Ops initiatives. Serves as expert on Microsoft and Linux operating systems, VmWare products, AWS, storage systems and DR/BC systems.

4. Research and recommend new technologies for the improvement and continuous development of campus server and storage environments. Review cloud computing technology trends and determine feasibility of enhancements and their impact on our environment to continually evaluate, innovate and implement system improvements.

5. Responsible for ensuring all servers and systems have appropriate hardware updates. Provide clear and concise technical documentation related to installations, configurations, technical solutions and procedures supporting the administration and maintenance of services. Initiate formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions within Infrastructure team.

6. Collaborates with other functional groups (networking) and end users to ensure maximum uptime and performance of all hardware. Utilize tools like MS OneNote and MS Teams for collaboration
