Minimum Requirements

High school diploma and four years of accounting experience is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred and may be substituted for experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to deal effectively with the public and to exercise good judgment and discretion. Knowledge of Banner software preferred. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations. Ability to perform analysis of financial records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Knowledge of FERPA student privacy regulations. Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collections Practice is preferred.

1. Records all cash clearing processing receipt documents into the appropriate on-line processing system (Banner Finance). Reconciles the recorded receipts to the daily deposits. Provides end of day check and cash verification for front desk cashiers and prepares for transit to bank with supervision by the Deputy Treasurer and/or Assistant Treasurer.

2. Monitors and extracts Treasurer’s Office bank deposits, checking for accuracy. Reports inaccuracies directly to the Treasurer.

3. Maintains and updates detailed documentation of departmental deposit information recording, accounting, detail codes, and processing.

4. Backs up the cashiers for student accounts during the heavy billing and payment periods prior to each semester. Functions as the primary back up for lunches and cashier’s vacation times.

5. Collaborates with Accounts Receivable department to provide phone calls, e-mails, and letters for overdue and non-student balances, as well as overdue Perkins Loan balances.

6. Ensures all daily transactions are recorded timely in the BDMS system. Ensures that appropriate backup has been received for all transactions.

7. Works with departments and clubs to set up MarketPlace store fronts and acts as the backup to the Operations Manager’s MarketPlace responsibilities.
