Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and demonstrated experience in data analysis and report writing. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of specific business intelligence reporting software, such as Cognos, Tableau, or Microsoft Power BI and various methods of data extraction. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced experience using report authoring tools provided by BI solutions. Current knowledge and understanding of all areas of data and information that is important to an academic institution.

Must possess extensive analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of users, including mentoring campus users on data interpretation and report creation.

Familiarity with service management methodologies.

Must be proficient in project management methodology. Ability to plan, organize and follow through multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.

Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other IT staff, business stakeholders, and vendors.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

Employee must be willing to work flexible hours including occasional nights, weekends and holidays and be on-call 24/7. Able to travel periodically for professional development.

Activity

MODELING AND REPORT DEVELOPMENT: Functional leader and expert for campus operational report development. Consults with campus constituents to analyze business information needs. Works with Senior Business Intelligence Modeler using expert level knowledge of programming principles and BI tools to support institution’s strategic planning, assessment, accreditation process, as well as meeting operational needs, updating the BI models to meet demand. Encourages the College’s BI users to proactively take on new and inventive reporting, ensuring the full scope of the reporting tools are implemented and understood. Works with end users to diagnose and resolve report issues, escalating when necessary to other members of the BI team. Collaborates with BI team to develop templates and other standardization methods. Manages and tracks work through internal ticketing system.

BI SUPPORT: Back-up administrator of the BI reporting environment including processes, design, security, model development, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Serves as a technical resource for BI software, data extraction, and reporting logic. Works with Senior Business Intelligence Modeler and BI Team to architect solutions in BI tools to meet enterprise, departmental, strategic, and ad-hoc reporting needs. Creates and maintains knowledge base articles for use in application support.

TEAM SUPPORT: Supports the efforts of the Information Technology division to promote campus-wide education in the best practices for data usage, privacy, security, safe-guarding, stewardship and ownership. Works with the BI Team to incorporate historic data and new systems into the Operational Data Store and Enterprise Data Warehouse to allow for robust reporting for all areas. Shadows the work of the Senior Business Intelligence Modeler and BI Oracle Developer to serve as backup.
