Minimum Requirements

Ideally seeking fluency and teaching ability in Spanish and French; Spanish is the primary concern but addition of French is strongly desired. Bachelor’s degree in subject area and/or teaching endorsement in respective area and one year successful teaching experience at middle school, high school or college level. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required along with effective classroom management skills. Enthusiasm for and experience working with underrepresented youth strongly preferred.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

The College of Charleston Upward Bound program, federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is looking for a highly-qualified Foreign Language teacher for our Summer Component and Academic Year Component. The teacher is responsible for providing both general academic enrichment in subject matter as well as facilitating individual and group grade-appropriate attention to assignments and exams in “real-time” (what students need to excel in classes).
