Position Description

The Program of Jewish Studies invites applications for an Instructor in modern Hebrew, starting August 16, 2018. This is a renewable position, and during the sixth year the instructor undergoes review for promotion to the rank of Senior Instructor. We seek an enthusiastic teacher dedicated to working with undergraduate students in a robust Jewish Studies Program. The College of Charleston has a two-year language requirement for all students, which can be satisfied by Hebrew coursework. Hebrew is also a core of both the major and minor in Jewish Studies. The position is benefits-eligible, the salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Minimum requirement is a Masters. Candidates must have native or near-native command of Hebrew and strong command of English. At least two years of teaching experience is preferred. The teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester (three four-credit courses at present). Additional duties may include, but are not restricted to, participating in Program and College functions; advising students and clubs; and service to the Program and College.
