Position Description

Assistant Professor of Spanish at the College of Charleston (Charleston, SC), specialty in Second Language Acquisition or Spanish as a first/heritage Language. Colleague will teach undergraduates at all levels, with possibilities for occasional general linguistics in the Interdisciplinary Linguistics Minor Program and both Spanish and general linguistics in the M. Ed. program. 3/3 course load. Additional duties may include, but are not restricted to, participating in department and college functions; advising students and clubs; occasional directing of summer and semester study programs in Spain and Hispanic America. Ph.D. in Spanish, Linguistics, Hispanic Studies or a related field, or a foreign equivalent degree, one (1) year of collegiate teaching experience in Spanish language courses, and a coherent and cohesive research program with promise for future production is required. A strong command of Spanish and English fluency with advanced level proficiency is required.

The position begins August 2017, full benefits and competitive salary. We seek an enthusiastic teacher dedicated to teaching and working with undergraduates in our large Spanish program.
